Curanderismo (from the Spanish curar: to heal) is the shamanic healing practice of Mexico and the Peruvian Andes. Taking inspiration from nature and the apus (spirits) of the natural world, the curandero uses plants and flowers as a central part of his healing practice, which includes methods of soul retrieval, extraction medicine and divining the future.
We work with natural healing methods including:
• Placitas: The art of actively listening to and counselling clients “from the heart and soul”
• Divination for future-seeing
• Limpia: Dis-ease diagnosis and soul cleansing using natural materials
• Soul retrieval using flowers and song
• Creating seguros: Power objects and healing allies made from plants, flowers and perfumes
• Pago: A blessing ceremony for participants and for the Earth

Unlike other ‘soul retrieval’ training programmes this workshop also includes instruction in aspects of spirit extraction and work with the energy body to give you a much fuller understanding of shamanic healing.

On this course - an introduction to Celtic shamanism and the work of the sin eater, “the first shaman ever born” – we employ practices which have otherwise been largely forgotten in shamanic wisdom and lore.
We work with techniques including:
• Poetic dreaming (the ‘soul flight’ of the shaman to find healing allies in nature)
• The diagnosis of dis-ease through natural oracular practices

The drum is the shaman’s “horse” and principal tool for journeying, healing, knowing the universe and finding new power. This workshop initiates participants into a profound communion with the spirit behind and within the drum. It includes the drum as an aid to soul-healing, for finding and retrieving power (the drum as the warrior’s sword), the drum as the voice of spirit (shamanic counselling and oracular practice) and the language of the drum (communicating with others via drumbeats and spirit whispers).
